This was going to be do or die for New Zealand. Well it’s better than being out outright, surely. With Pakistan win over South Africa, this group had come alive and New Zealand were back in the reckoning. New Zealand batted quite cautiously to reach a moderate 149, setting up a target of 150. England bowlers kept the rate tightly under 7 for most of the innings and even the late bursts were not enough to go much over this ending at an aggregate of 7.45 rpo.
England were up right away smashing through and breaking the New Zealand resolve. By the end of 6th over they were 57 for 1! New Zealand did try a few trick then but it was too late to suppress the run rate. England Arrived Safely into the final, taking Pakistan alongwith them. Phew! Some respite for Pakistan!!
