West Indies didn’t have the patience to try and wait for their easier game to try and get to the next round. Although they gave a little too many runs, but when they came to bat Gayle swept off Australia single handedly. It’s another matter that Fletcher chipped in with a good 53 as well and Australia gave up even before West Indies were one down.

Brett Lee failed miserably, and it was necessary to mention that here, since he was expected to get West Indies on the mat. He bowled 4 overs at more than 200% strike rate by the batsmen in his overs. And he was actually clobbered by Gayle for 3 6s and 2 4s in a single over. Well that actually did it!
