Scorecard:

Australia: 159 for 9 (20 overs)

(David Hussey 28 off 22 balls, Mitchell Johnson 28* off 13 balls, Mendis 3 for 20, Malinga 3 for 26)

Sri Lanka 160 for 4 (19 overs)

(Dilshan 53 off 32 balls, Sangkarra 55* off 42 balls, Brett Lee 2 for 26)

Australia started badly and slid with every wicket. However, surprisingly they could get to a reasonable total due to a late effort by Mitchell Johnson and maybe some lose bowling by Udana. However, the target looks quite gettable by Lanka. Obviously, Australia have some part to play in the general confidence that we feel about Lanka’s chances.

Sri Lanka began in the right earnest despite losing Jayasuriya quite cheaply. TM Dilshan went about clinically disseminating the Australian attack. Accompanied by Sangkarra he tore apart all of the top Australia bowlers. He was stopped short of completing the task by the unlikely pair of Hauritz and Michael Clarke, who even crashed down the RPO strike rate from 10+ per over to below 8 and even below the Australian RPO. This was the nearest Aussies could get to victory, as Sangkarra stuck on and later set up an assault as soon as he moved within sight of the Australian target.
