Scorecard:

England 111 all out (19.5 overs)

(Owais Shah 38 off 33 balls, Parnell 3 for 14, Kallis 2 for 20)

South Africa: 114 for 3 (16.4 overs)

(Kallis 58* off 49 balls, Gibbs 30 off 30 balls, Broad 1 for 14, Swann 1 for 27, Rashid 1 for 24)

England put up a lifeless display and except for Owais no one actually had much to say. Probably they are happy being in Super 8 and happier that Australia is out. These are not Ashes buddy!

That South Africa made a terribly slow start despite being on the top in the match, was no dampener as South Africa didn’t lose wickets and were comfortably placed to press the accelerator when they wanted. Kallis saw to it that they didn’t give any chance for England to pull a trick out of their sleeve.

Do England have any trick up their sleeve nowadays?

Scorecard:

New Zealand 198 for 5 (20 overs)

(Redmond 63 off 30 balls, Guptill 45* off 32 balls, Styris 42 off 25 balls, McCallan 2 for 33, Cusack 2 for 43)

Ireland: 115 all out (16.4 overs)

(Botha 28 off 17 balls, Wilson 23 off 28 balls, N McCullum 3 for 15, Mills 2 for 12)

New Zealand set a target of getting about 10 runs per over and throughout the match they maintained the run rate. At one stage they were 152 for 2 in about 15 overs. A little tight bowling after this helped Ireland keep New Zealand under 200.

Ireland were no match for New Zealand bowling and there were no notable partnerships. We do hope this in not all what Ireland cricket is about. They must come up with more fighting performances.
