Scorecard:
India: 180 for 5 (20 overs)
(Gambhir 50 off 46 balls, Yuvraj 41 off 18 balls, Rohit Sharma 36 off 23 balls, Naeem Islam 2 for 32)
Bangladesh 172 for 3 (15.5 overs)
( Siddique 41 off 22 balls, Naeem Islam 28 off 17 balls, Ojha 4 for 21, Ishant Sharma 2 for 34)
The Indian Team batted quite well for the highest score of the tournament. Gautam Gambhir hit a nice though slow 50, and Rohit Sharma chipped in with 36. Bangladesh began in the right earnest scoring almost 10 per over for the first 5 overs. However, with Pragyan Ojha coming in, Bangladesh lost the plot. A late charge by Naeem in the last over was just too late to have any impact. In the end it was quite a comfortable start for the World T20 Champions.

Scorecard:
Australia: 169 for 7 (20 overs)
(David Warner 63 off 53 balls, Mike Hussey 28* off 15 balls, Bravo 2 for 31, Taylor 2 for 33, Edwards 2 for 34)
West Indies 172 for 3 (15.5 overs)
( Chris Gayle 88* off 50 balls, Fletcher 53 off 32 balls, Johnson 2 for 36)
West Indies didn’t have the patience to try and wait for their easier game to try and get to the next round. Although they gave a little too many runs, but when they came to bat Gayle swept off Australia single handedly. It’s another matter that Fletcher chipped in with a good 53 as well and Australia gave up even before West Indies were one down.
Brett Lee failed miserably, and it was necessary to mention that here, since he was expected to get West Indies on the mat. He bowled 4 overs at more than 200% strike rate by the batsmen in his overs. And he was actually clobbered by Gayle for 3 6s and 2 4s in a single over. Well that actually did it!
